Using your arms helps

Steven Collins, a biomechanical engineer at Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands did some experiments showing that swinging your arms while walking helps. In fact, not moving your arms requires 12% more effort, which, according to the researcher, is equivalent to walking 20% faster or carrying a 10-kilo backpack.

Pay attention to your arm movement when you run -- it helps.
