Put on by Walnut Grove's Peninsula Runners, the Fort Langley Half Marathon takes place in and around the historic village, beginning and ending at the fort.
Looking at the half marathon route, you can see that the elevation on Armstrong isn't all that bad (at least it doesn't go on for too long). I'm grateful for all the hills we've been running over the past year.
It should be noted this course is challenging but very scenic. The main hill occurs at 8k on Armstrong road and rewards you with majestic views of Mt. Baker as you summit. The last 11k of the route is slightly rolling, downhill and flat and will reward those who pace themselves with a fast finish at the Fort.
If you're not up for running the race, maybe you'd be interested in running the Fort-to-Fort trail and add a loop or two of the Houston Trail. Afterwards, when we're all done, we can meet at Wendel's.
The race starts at 7:00am, so if all goes well, perhaps those of us in the Fort can meet around 9:30.
Anyone running in Fort Langley this coming Sunday?
